A Soldier’s Story
The lessons, the battles, & the memories that never fade
Abhay Sapru began his military journey after graduating from Delhi University, when he joined the prestigious Indian Military Academy. Commissioned into the Indian Army in 1988, he soon volunteered for the elite Special Forces, a decision that would define his decade-long service. Over the years, he was deployed in some of the most volatile and insurgency-hit regions of the subcontinent, including Sri Lanka, Kashmir, and India’s North-East. His courage and leadership in hostile environments earned him the Sena Medal for gallantry and the Army Chief’s Commendation Card, honors that speak volumes about his dedication and bravery. These intense and transformative experiences provided him not only with unmatched insight into conflict zones but also a deep understanding of human endurance and brotherhood. Today, his writing is deeply informed by those years, lending his novels an authenticity and emotional gravity rarely found in military fiction.
A Soldier’s Pen
When the Gun Fell Silent, the Pen Took Over
After a distinguished decade in the Indian Army and Special Forces, Abhay Sapru’s journey took a creative turn. After retiring from the military, he joined a private bank and stepped into the world of corporate life. Yet, even as a soldier and later a corporate professional, writing remained a quiet but constant companion. The experiences, emotions, and memories from the battlefield never left him — they lived on, vivid, complex, and deeply human. He continued to write throughout his service and working years, eventually transforming those reflections into stories. With a desire to share the untold, he began turning real-life moments into compelling narratives that offer readers a raw and authentic glimpse into the life of a soldier. His transition from special forces officer to storyteller was not just a shift in roles, but a heartfelt effort to preserve the legacy of those who serve. His books, drawn from time spent in Sri Lanka, Kashmir, and the North-East, are lived truths shaped with honesty, courage, and clarity.
